Ken Nesworthy - Head Coach

Ken Nesworthy - Head CoachKen’s involvement in competitive swimming began in 1965 as a swimmer with South Shields United Amateur Swimming Club.

Following the formation of South Tyneside Swimming Club in 1979,  Ken who re-joined the team in 1985, progressed within the club staffing structure to become Head Swimming Teacher in 1987, developing many young swimmers through the Learn To Swim and Pre Competition groups who progressed to the STMBC Council Funded Competitive swimming Squads lead at the time by the successful Head Coach Paddy Hayes.

Following the retirement of Paddy Hayes in 1990, Ken was appointed the position as Head Coach responsible for all teaching and coaching development within the Club.

Paul Connolly - Swim Squad Coach

Coaching Level: ASA Coach Levels 1 & 2

Paul is a Level 1 & 2 Swimming Teacher who started his career at Hebburn Metro where he took his Level 1 and coached the Swimmers during the absence of a full time coach. 

He joined South Tyneside Swimming Club following his daughters progression in swimming where he qualified as a Level 2 Coach under the guidance of Head Coach Ken Nesworthy and the then B Squad coach Alan Cook.  He assisted Alan Cook in coaching B Squad along with Dot Houston.

Paul currently coaches the Thursday Night Swim Squad and helps out in any department of the Club as needed.
