South Tyneside S.C. - 2012 Spring Graded Meet

South Tyneside Swimming Club are hosting their Annual Spring Graded Meet at Hebburn Swimming Pool on the weekend of 21st-22nd April.

The gala is operated under ASA Law and Technical Rules - Level 4.

The organisers reserve the right to restrict the numbers of entries to ensure the completion of the meet as scheduled. Poolside entries will be accepted only if there are empty lanes in an event – under ASA Law, entries accepted on the day are to be treated as official entries and the swimmers to be entitled to any award they might win.

Event Information

Heats will be seeded according to submitted entry times. All events are Heat Declared Winner with the exception of 14/Over 50m events.
In each event, awards will be made to the fastest three swimmers in each Age Group (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14/OVER) with the exception of 50m events for 14/over and 400m Freestyle. The 400m Freestyle is an Open event where awards will be made to the fastest three swimmers.
Additional awards will be made to fastest three swimmers in each 50m final.

South Tyneside Swimming Club will not be responsible for any unaccompanied swimmers on poolside. The responsibility falls on the club, entering the swimmer, who should appoint an individual to be on poolside. i.e. An adult with a coach’s pass.

Coaches are requested to inform the recorders, no later than 30 minutes prior to the session start time, of any of their swimmers who intend withdrawing from an event. It is the responsibility of team managers and coaches to ensure that all competitors report to the starting area in time for the start of the race.

Neither South Tyneside SC, nor South Tyneside MBC, can be held responsible for loss or damage to spectator’s or swimmer’s property. Swimmers are advised to use the lockers (20p returnable).

Spectator Information

There is a large free car park situated outside the pool. Please note that seating is limited.

Junior League T-Shirts

Essential Maintenance: Hebburn Pool - 20th - 21st May

Due to essential Pool maintenance, Hebburn Pool will be closed next Sunday 20th May.

As a result Learn to Swim Sessions are Cancelled on Sunday 20th May.

C Squad Training is also Cancelled on Sunday 20th May.

A Squad and B Squad morning training on Monday 21st May is also Cancelled.

It is expected that the Pool will be open again for the B Squad and D Squad sessions on Monday afternoon.

A Squad and C Squad will now return to training at Boldon on Monday evenings as per the normal training schedule with immediate effect.

Junior League Final 2012

The Junior League Final will be held at Billingham Forum Leisure Centre.

Travel for the swimmers will be via coach as with previous events.

After the event the Simonside Arms is booked for a late lunch.

Shortly we will be inviting applications for the position of Head Coach to ensure the continuity of this position at South Tyneside Swimming Club.

We will be looking for a Head Coach with the commitment to lead our top squad and communicate with our team of coaches, ensuring their individual career and professional development are realised. At South Tyneside we are committed to achieving Swim 21 and the Head Coaches participation in the completion of our application will be a requirement.

Two new pools are currently being built on South Tyneside, a training pool in Jarrow and an 8 lane 25m competition pool in South Shields. Ideal facilities to continue the development of our Club, promote it within the Community and an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic coach to encourage our swimmers to achieve their best at County, Regional, National and International Level.

A further announcement will be made as soon as the position is advertised. Should any coaches already be interested in applying for the position, please use the contact page on our website and supply your contact details and we will notify you as soon as the position is advertised.

Announcement: Ken Nesworthy - Head Coach

It is with regret that we have to announce that our highly respected and long standing Head Coach, Ken Nesworthy has decided to retire from Club Coaching at the end of this season.

Ken has been with the club over 27 years and seen many swimmers come and go at the club and it wasn’t an easy choice to leave his talented squad, several of which are competing at National, International and Paralympic levels. He will be sincerely missed.

On behalf of South Tyneside Swimming Club we wish him well in his future endeavours and wonder what he will do now there is no more 4am starts for early morning training.
